Upgrading Your Eriba

A series of posts for those of us at a loose end in these troubled times, particularly folks suffering with lockdown doldrums.

A few months after buying my 2018 Troll 540GT I decided that I would like to change a few things. Why? Well, either I believed the Hymer solution was not up to the job, or because there was something missing which (in my opinion) would enhance the van. Now I’m not suggesting that anyone should attempt something as dramatic as that shown in the title photo. However, there are many small improvements which any capable DIY enthusiast can tackle with confidence.

Personally, I have a few rules which I try to satisfy when setting about any modification:

  • Is it functional & useful?
  • Will it detract from the value of the van?
  • Can it look professional, as good as factory fitted?
  • If possible, is it reversible?

I will be covering modifications already made to my own van including gas, electrics, and heating, to name but a few. I also hope to post a few details on projects which are still in the pipeline including solar power and using 230V when off-grid. Most changes require only basic skills although a few are not for the faint hearted especially when it involves cutting large holes in your pride and joy! Not all ideas will appeal to everyone but hopefully some of you will find inspiration and take the plunge.

For those of you intrigued by the title photo, here is the company who can do it for you though it ain’t cheap!
